🥯 Welcome to Haru Bagel+ 🥯

🇨🇦A Little Taste of Japan from Coaldale🇯🇵

Our story truly began in the summer of 2025 at the Lethbridge Farmers' Market. Having lived in Canada for over 15 years and spent many wonderful years working in Japanese restaurants, I always found myself reflecting on the beautiful blend of Japanese traditions and Canadian culture. Deep down, I always held a small dream: to share the warmth and flavors of my Japanese heritage with the community I love.

That very first summer at the market was an unforgettable experience. The incredible kindness and support from everyone blew us away and filled our hearts with gratitude. Of course, as a new beginning, there were many things we learned along the way, but your smiles kept us going.

After the market season came to a close, we thought a lot about what to do next. The answer was right here in our beloved home town of Coaldale. We decided to take small, heartfelt steps forward to keep this journey alive.

The Heart Behind Our Name: Haru

Our name comes from a very special part of our family—our beloved dog, Haru, who is now watching over us.

In Japanese, "Haru" means "Spring." Our destinies intertwined when we met during that beautiful season. We named our business after her with the wish that she will always be with us, gently watching over our journey and our wonderful customers.

What Makes Our Japanese-Style Bagels Special?

To bring our dream to life, we are thrilled to share our passion: Japanese-style bagels. Unlike traditional North American bagels, ours are uniquely soft, light, and wonderfully chewy (mochi-mochi).

We love getting creative in the kitchen by blending a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and wholesome ingredients right into the dough. We are especially proud to scratch-make bagels inspired by traditional Japanese flavors and beloved Japanese sweets, offering a unique treat experience you won't find anywhere else.

Every single bagel is crafted with heart and care. As your neighbors, nothing makes us happier than bringing a little piece of Japan to your table and serving as a warm bridge between our two cultures.

Thank you for welcoming us into your lives. We can't wait to share our next chapter with you!
